The 2nd Burning Issues in Psychiatry Conference was to be held in Istanbul, Turkey from 21-23 October 2013. However due to scheduling difficulties it has been decided not hold the conference this year.
The current proposal is that the conference will be held every four years in Beirut, anticipating that by 2015 the current conflict in Syria will have settled down.
Burning Issues in Psychiatry is a series of conferences, all focusing on Psychiatry. The main focus of the conference will change, based on the dominant issues at the time of the conference. The inaugural event took place in Beirut in October 2011 with the topic in focus being Bipolar Disorders. This first conference was very well-received and supported by 350 delegates, 28 speakers and 9 sponsors, as well as coverage by Lebanese Television.
The Mission of the conferences is to allow the dissemination of knowledge across Regional and International boundaries to ensure best practice in understanding and treatment of psychiatric conditions. It is the intention of the committee to consider topics of most relevance to Psychiatry today and to address scientific and clinical issues within the understanding and treatment of these conditions through an expert panel of presenters. The conferences are clinically-focused, mainly addressing topics of interest to clinicians in helping them improve treatment of patients.
The topic in focus was to be: Relationships
